Currently attending Westchester High. I will be a junior starting the Fall semester 2000. I also attended Los Angeles Trade Tech College during the summer to take classes geared towards college entrance. For preschool through 9th grade I attended Marcus Garvey School. With the exception of 8th grade I attended Cecil Murray Education Center.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Smooth as Silk: Los Angeles, California * 2/1999-present

I am a beautician assistant. My responsibilities included greeting the clients, washing, drying, dying, and other preparation of the hair for the stylist.

Cecil Murray Education Center: Los Angeles, California * 6/1999-8/1999

Summer counselor for Kindergartners. Some of the duties included watching the children on the playground, supervising on field trips, and assisting in arts and crafts.

Louisiana Catfish: Los Angeles, California * 1/1993-8/1996

I worked as a cashier at the family catering business. The business traveled throughout Southern California participating in such events as Monterey Jazz Festival, African Marketplace, and the Black Family Reunion. Besides the position of a cashier, I also helped in setting up the booth, stocking the shelves, preparing the food to be cooked and clean up.

* Won 2nd place in an essay contest sponsored by Congressman Kevin Murray in 1998.
